UNWIND Code Lab: introduction video (English)
Ten minutes on the bus. A short break at work. A quiet moment, when the children are asleep.
That is enough time to start coding.
On your phone, you write your first lines of HTML, the language of web pages. Press Run, and your page appears right away.
A mistake? That's normal. A clear message shows you the line, and your next small step.
With CSS, you add colour and space. With a little JavaScript, a button reacts when you tap it.
Step by step, your own website grows: a banner, a menu, your content and a side menu.
Each unit ends with a short challenge. You earn badges and Code Cards. Use a tag in your own website, and its card turns shiny.
Finish every lesson, pass the four unit challenges, and you get a certificate of completion.
Who builds our digital world? In 2025, only about one in five ICT specialists in the EU were women. There is room for many more.
It's free. No experience needed. Start your first lesson today, at UNWIND Code Lab.

What you will be able to do
Write HTML, CSS and JavaScript in your browser and build your own website step by step. 4 units, 32 short lessons, about 6 hours. Free, no experience needed.
- Explain how a web page gets from a web server to your browser, and what HTML, CSS and JavaScript each do.
- Write the structure of an HTML page with a head, headings, paragraphs, text tags and lists.
- Add links, pictures, media, tables and forms with labels, and organise a page with semantic tags like header, nav, main and footer.
- Style a page with CSS: readable colours with enough contrast, fonts, sizes, borders and spacing.
- Point CSS at the right elements with selectors, and predict which rule wins.
- Place boxes with the box model, position, flexbox and grid, so that a page works on a phone and on a computer.
- Write JavaScript with variables, text, arrays, decisions, functions and loops, and use the console to see what it does.
- Change a web page with JavaScript and build your own small interactive website, step by step.
Lesson content is based on the UNWIND training materials 'Web Development with HTML, CSS and JavaScript' (Parts 1-4) prepared by the project partnership.

Questions about the module
How long does the module take?
About 6 hours in total: 4 units with 32 short lessons. Most lessons take 10 to 12 minutes. You can stop at any time and continue later; your progress is saved when you are logged in.
How is the module organised?
In 4 units, like the 4 parts of the course materials: 1 HTML Basics; 2 Links, Media, Tables, Forms and Semantic HTML; 3 CSS; 4 JavaScript. In each unit you add one part to your own website.
What is a unit challenge?
The last lesson of each unit is a challenge with 10 questions. You pass with 7 correct answers (70%). You can try as many times as you like, and your best score counts. After each try you see which lesson can help with each question.
Do I need to install anything?
No. You write and run the code in your browser. Nothing is installed on your device.
Can I do the exercises on my phone?
Yes. On a phone you can tap code blocks into place, fill in gaps and put lines in order. You can also type, and continue on a computer whenever you like.
What happens if my code does not work?
The exercise tells you what to fix and where. You can ask for up to three hints. After a few tries you can compare your code with a working solution.
How do I get the certificate?
Finish all 32 lessons, pass all four unit challenges with 70% or more, and reach an average of at least 70% in the required activities. The certificate of completion shows about 6 hours of learning and has a code that anyone can check online. You also keep your own website and can download it as one file.
Where does the content come from?
Lesson content is based on the UNWIND training materials 'Web Development with HTML, CSS and JavaScript' (Parts 1-4) prepared by the project partnership. This site adds the code exercises in your browser, the checks and hints, and the game parts.
